Introduction: Insulin resistance is a complex pathological condition observed in disorders such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and metabolic syndrome, and is a contributing factor to numerous metabolic disturbances. Exercise and ginger supplementation are considered effective strategies for reducing insulin resistance. Despite numerous studies conducted by Iranian researchers in this area, no bibliometric analysis has been performed regarding the effects of these two interventions on insulin resistance.
Methods: In this study, the keywords "exercise," "ginger supplementation," and "insulin resistance" were searched in the Mergan database. Articles related to the combined effect of exercise and ginger supplementation on insulin resistance were selected. Ultimately, 13 relevant articles were extracted and analyzed using the VOSviewer software. The articles were converted to the RIS format, and the data were examined.
Results: The results showed that 36 authors collaborated on the 13 articles, with an average of 3.23 ± 0.89 authors per article. 54% of the articles were published by faculty members of public universities, and 46% by faculty members of private universities. The most frequent keywords included "ginger," "insulin resistance," "obesity," "diabetes mellitus," "irisin," and "lipid peroxidation."
Conclusion: The analyses revealed that parallel exercise programs were used less frequently than combined and aerobic exercises. Additionally, considering the relationship between insulin resistance and various diseases, further studies on diverse populations, including individuals with different diseases, are warranted.
